It is with great sadness and regret that we mark the passing of our great friend and golfing colleague, Paddy Stuart Trainor.
Paddy was a member of the inaugural committee of Knockfierna Golfing Society in 1991 and brought with him a deep knowledge of the game of golf that his late mother (the first golfer in Ballingarry) had instilled in him.
Through the years, Paddy and his family have been great supporters and sponsors to our Society and they have kindly made their premises "Trainor's Bar" available to us for meetings and social gatherings for the past twenty seven years.
An aficionado on the rules of golf, Paddy tirelessly gave his time to adjudicating score cards after every outing, keeping handicaps in check, guiding us on the rules when tricky situations arose and entertaining us with his wit and charm at every turn.
He was a true friend and gentleman. We will miss him dearly and we extend our most sincere sympathy to his wife Trudy and the family on his passing.
The Stuart Trainor family would like to thank the members of Knockfierna Golf Society for forming a guard of honour for Paddy at his funeral. We would also like to thank you for your kind tribute to him on the website. Paddy looked forward to every outing and thoroughly enjoyed the banter and the challenges of the scoring! Thank you for your continued support. Trudy, Sarah, Louise and Kevin.

The Society wishes to acknowledge Jimmy Stapleton and on behalf of all of our members, extend sincere condolences to his wife Nuala, club members Seamus, Steven, Noel and family on his passing.
Jimmy was one of the original members of our Society when it was founded in 1992.
He held the position of President in 2000 and in 2009 won the Presidents Prize to add to his All Ireland JB Carr medals in 2002,2003,2004 won with Charleville GC. He also collected a very precious Irish Independent Golfer of the Month Award in July1999. All that knew Jimmy would call him a sportsman, a rogue and a gentleman. For all of the these traits and his great personality he was loved by all and we will miss him dearly.
There is a major probability that there is good fourball currently underway in Paradise with Jimmy, Jerry Molyneaux, Mike McCarthy & Paddy Trainor - and all of the other dearly departed Society members queued up for the coming days.
A legend departed. May he rest in peace.
